A heat wave is coming. Is anyone at City of Toronto 🇨🇦 going to do anything to make sure people stay safe, healthy, and hydrated? Private citizens can't keep doing your work for you — especially since we've lost our water donor and have no bottled water to distribute this year.

Thank you, Mayor Olivia Chow 🇨🇦 City of Toronto 🇨🇦. I'm pleased that my call for emergency water access for homeless people was heard, with water trailers and a pending 500,000 bottles of water to be deployed. Appropriate cool spaces are still an emergency need, but this helps greatly.

This is a big problem in City of Toronto 🇨🇦: without appropriate and medically supervised shelter, hospitals are discharging homeless people to drop-ins and the street. Toronto is building new shelters — can we incorporate beds to recuperate? TY Health Providers Against Poverty for this advocacy!

Thank you, Mayor Olivia Chow 🇨🇦 Alejandra Bravo. These are important interventions that will ensure a more equitable and heat resilient city. Thank you for deploying water trucks. Thank you as well for backfill for our community-based efforts to distribute potable water to agencies.

Toronto - we shouldn't discharge hospital patients with ongoing needs to nowhere, to the street. They deteriorate. The return to ER. When they return they lose a leg or because they can't care for a leg already amputated. We must do better. Health Providers Against Poverty Diana Chan McNally

This is a failure not of someone trying to survive but of a system perpetuated by all levels of government that creates homelessness. The Grant Faulkner Inquest gave recommendations on addressing encampment fire deaths; they've not been fully implemented. toronto.citynews.ca/2025/07/03/1-p…
