Remarkable early-season "#SnowDrought" across essentially the entire American West. SWE <20% of average in Cascades, Sierra Nevada, & Southern Rockies. Interestingly, this includes watersheds in PacNW that have been very wet--pointing to key importance of warming temperatures.

1/ Covid and the brain. I am updating my list of papers, which is extensive. But, in the meantime, here is a talk I gave recently, "What happens to the brain when we are on covid." With links to references.

Wondering how much Covid activity is being caused by #Omicron in your region? My colleague J Emory Parker is on BlueSky produced this handy map. There's never a good time to need urgent care. But if you live in a dark green area, it's a very bad time. Be careful. statnews.com/2021/12/20/omi…

Our avian influenza paper on prevalence in waterfowl across the year in U.S. is out! Quite a group of collaborators from 2 large datasets. Great work, Cody and all!

My lab is hiring a post doc! Come join us to study viral ecology and evolution over at UMass Boston. We offer harbor views, a 2-year NSF-funded position, and lots of opportunities to get hands-on with fluffy or feathery fauna that also happen to shed viruses. PPE supplied! 🦠🦆😷
