This bill will bring forward the most devastating cuts to disability benefits on record. The government's own impact assessment report says 250,000 people could be pushed into poverty. This bill if passed will be a stain on the Labour Party for years to come. I urge Labour

I’ve been making my way through the Welfare Reform Bill and this on the gov.uk website is genuinely disgusting. Receiving a decent disability benefits rate “encourages sickness”, does it? Funny, I thought it just enabled severely ill and disabled people to eat.

Prosecuting Palestine Action protestors for criminal damage for paint spraying at the airbase would be expected but putting them on a par with mass killers like Jihadis & Boko Haram & proscribing doesn’t seem appropriate & not what the counter terrorism laws were introduced for.

Agreed, John McDonnell. This isn’t just authoritarian overreach - it’s laying the legal and political foundations for a future hard-right govt to escalate repression. What begins with protestors ends with dissent itself.

The US attack on Iran was unprovoked and illegal, done in cooperation with a regime that is currently perpetrating a genocide, whose leader is wanted by the International Criminal Court. That is the world we are in.

The government's plan to proscribe Palestine Action is part of a wider crackdown on protest. Instead of taking steps to prevent genocide, the gov wants to criminalise people demanding justice for Palestinians. Sign the petition to oppose this plan: palestinecampaign.eaction.org.uk/NoProscription

‘Two people with identical conditions could receive support, according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies, that differs by up to £6,560 a year – purely due to timing. This, we’re told, is compassion.’ A two tier benefit system. Immoral. #ScrapTheBill theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The government concession on setting up the review of PIP conditions has been rendered meaningless by its refusal to guarantee to put the review recommendations in primary legislation. This means they cannot be amended by votes in Parliament. Further undermines trust.

🚨BREAKING: MPs have just voted for cuts to social security - with unwritten promises from the UK Government This is reckless. Disability rights aren’t optional. Poverty is a political choice. This Govt chose it tonight. We'll keep fighting until this cruel Bill is rejected

I am dreadfully sorry to lose Zarah from the Labour Party. The people running Labour at the moment need to ask themselves why a young, articulate, talented, extremely dedicated socialist feels she now has no home in the Labour Party and has to leave.

People who wrote and delivered the Island of Strangers speech, did nothing to address Labour’s ‘hierarchy of racism’ described in the Forde Report, took weeks to condemn last summers riots – have suspended Diane Abbott for describing her experience as a Black woman. Disgraceful.

There’s an interesting debate largely led by the Left that is challenging the Treasury orthodoxy on several fronts, especially posed by Prem Sikka. This is another contribution. Britain’s quiet billion-pound subsidy to banks and ‘shadow’ banks – Labour Hub labourhub.org.uk/2025/07/20/bri…
