New SPT-3G result! From CMB polarization alone we reconstruct the CMB lensing and an unlensed E-mode power spectrum. We find H0 = 66.8 ± 0.8 km/s/Mpc, in 5.4-sig tension w/ SH0ES, and mnu <0.075eV (95% CL), w/ weak (<3-sig) preference of excess lensing. arxiv.org/abs/2411.06000

Finally out!First results from two year obervations of CMB polarisation from South Pole Telescope SPT-3G! Best constraint on Hubble parameter from polarisation alone! And more coming soon with the complete joint analysis of temperature and polarisation! European Research Council (ERC) IAP #neucosmos

Important new paper out on ‘JAGB 2.0’ - measuring Hubble Constant with JWST led by Sean Li. Short story - good distance agreement with HST Cepheids, H0=73.3+-1.4 (stat) +- 2.0 (sys), but that systematic is really hard to knock down and unclear how to do so in future. A thread.

Eye to the sky…on-sky engineering tests have begun at U.S. National Science FoundationDOE Office of Science Rubin Observatory with the world’s largest camera! After installing & testing the LSST Camera, we turned the telescope to the sky—a moment 20 years in the making! Rubin #CommissioningNotes are back! ✍️ 🧵

They’re hitting every milestone w lots of reserve, ready to launch early and under budget, maybe even by early Fall 2026. Nearly complete and it’s going to blow everyone away. NASA will need to find the world’s largest LED screen just to properly show the images, Sphere 😎

Congratulations to the LSST Team on the beginning on “the greatest movie of all time”. Proud to be a guest here speaking at the Harvard watch party and got my hands on a special edition US minted Vera Rubin Dark Matter quarter!
