It's fluffy. It's got a bright pink nose. It's very fatty. Meet the peculiar, incredible "bacon bug" in my May @NatGeoMag feature, with gorgeous Nichole Sobecki photojournalism. These bugs, Cortni Borgerson hopes, will help save endangered lemurs.

Painted woolly bats are cute and their coloring is striking—bright orange and black. That's why I reported last yr National Geographic that they're in such high demand online. That's also why some animal welfare groups today asked U.S. FWS to protect them under the Endangered Species Act.

I'm happy to share that I've started a new job working for NASA (as a contractor)! I'm a team lead elevating the storytelling at NASA's Human Research Program—a group focused on how humansĀ can live in space and navigate the risks of crewed missions to the Moon, Mars, & beyond.

This is horrible news. I hope that this publication somehow finds a way. Such interesting, enterprising reporting there. Possible funders, take note!

Here's my message to young people: you wouldn't let a bunch of old people decide what music you're going to listen to or what clothes you're going to wear – so don't let them decide your future. Make a plan to vote today: IWillVote.com/Obama

Turner Station is a historically Black community right outside of Baltimore. It's where Henrietta Lacks lived. Parts of it routinely flood. It also has industrial pollutants including PCBs. A grp of mostly retirees are fighting for its future. My latest: nature.org/en-us/magazine…
