Understanding the Social Model of Disability is pivotal to challenging ableism in society and tackling barriers to rights and inclusion. Disability Wales Social Model Toolkit is essential reading for all in 2025!

Me in PoliticsHome about how every single time MPs vote it really does matter. That’s why I will vote against the UC & PIP Bill next week. šŸ‘‡

The #WelfareBill is the wrong decision! We are the sixth richest economy in the world - we need to stop making the most vulnerable in our society pay and start to seriously look at a #WealthTax

I just asked the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to name a single disabled people’s organisation that supports the Government’s ā€œreformsā€. She couldn’t name one. The Government should scrap this awful Bill, but if it doesn’t I will vote against it.

Tonight MPs have tabled a reasoned amendment on behalf of disabled people who have yet to have agency in this process. It is time their voices were heard. It is backed by 138 organisations Pippa Crerar The Guardian

I'm standing with disabled people. I’m voting NO to disability benefit cuts. The Government must press pause and rework this policy working alongside disabled people's charities and groups. DPAC

I have signed a new reasoned amendment on behalf of every disabled person and backed by 138 disability organisations. We must be their voice today. I didn't come here to make people worse off. That's why I'm voting against this Bill.

We’re asking all MPs to vote against the UCPIP Bill today. The government’s own impact assessment says the cuts will plunge 150,000 people into poverty by the end of this Parliament. This is likely an underestimate and says nothing of the people already in poverty who will sink

I've signed a reasoned amendment, backed by 138 disabled people's organisations, to reject disability benefit cuts. By failing to consult, the government excluded the voices of disabled people. When organisations representing disabled people are speaking out,Ā weĀ mustĀ listen.

I am going into the Commons Chamber to speak against & vote against the Government’s appalling Bill to cut disability benefits. I urge all Labour MPs to do so. I was elected to protect disabled people not harm them.

Whatever people’s views about the concessions, surely everyone can see the process here is ALL wrong? Third Reading in eight days? A timetable like that diminishes the role of MPs in getting this legislation right, shuts out disabled people and puts too many at risk.

Just listened to šŸ’™Rachael Maskell MP make such a powerful, moving and heartfelt defence of the sick and disabled in the chamber. She really is the best of us. The bill must be postponed till genuine co-production with disabled groups can take place The Labour Party is better than this

#WelfareNotWarfare Glad to see šŸ’™Rachael Maskell MP Amendment getting chosen which had 138 deaf & disabled people’s organisations supporting. MPs need to stand up for their disabled constituents and support the amendment and bin the bill

Meg Hillier in the chamber talks about people being 'pushed into disability benefits'. We are not pushed into disability benefits - you cannot be coerced into being Disabled! Disability benefits are there to support us to live independent lives in the face of an ableist society.
