At an 🇺🇳 event on Addressing the Legacy of nuclear weapons organized by Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to United Nations, Republic of Kiribati and Nuclear Age Peace Fn, I recalled that the tremendous sufferings caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and nuclear tests are the raison d’être of nuclear disarmament.

A few days during Cluster 1 discussions, Josephine Moote of Republic of Kiribati delivered the joint statement on the legacy of nuclear weapons. Kiribati continues to lead the way on nuclear justice with Kazakhstan Disarmament Fiji Government and their strong cross-regional group of friends.

At the SB-5 meeting of the #ConferenceonDisarmament, 🇰🇿 emphasized the importance of addressing biological weapons and biological security within the Conference’s agenda. This includes considering the possible creation of an International Agency for Biological Security #IABS
