Lord Steel (pro Bill) says that the Bill will save money (less to spend on palliative care), that the independent Panel is expensive and that the Panel might be removed in the Lords! MPs who voted for it on the basis on the basis of further Lords improvement, how do you feel?

‘Here too the fairly mindless invocation of freedom, autonomy, choice, control, rights, and other such happy-sounding phrases are cutting off attempts to build careful legislation’. Read Kathleen Stock on the similarities between abortion legislation and assisted dying

Dreadful article but comments below the line are encouraging - Times readers not down with liberal depersonalisation of mother-baby bond, at all.

🖊️ A year ago this week my first book, Sexed: A History of British Feminism came out with Polity... and I've just been cancelled in Poland. So I've written about the pride and shame of becoming a gender-critical author [link follows]

Delighted and relieved to see a first finished copy of “The Letters of T. S. Eliot”, volume 10, to be published in late July. My dear thanks to the Eliot Estate & everyone at Faber & Faber who have helped me bring it into being.
