Engaging talk by Dr. Stewart Ronald Stewart on his work with The ACS Committee on Trauma to prevent death and disability by firearms at International College of Surgeons - US Section annual meeting. We need to leave polarizing ideologies behind and unite to advocate for our patients and communities with data backed interventions.

So proud of University of South Dakota MS3 Troy Hollinsworth’s work on our transplant center’s COVID-19 experience. It has been a pleasure to mentor him alongside Thavam Thambi-Pillai and an honor to share our work at International College of Surgeons - US Section. Troy you are bound for great things!

Things that bother me to see in intubated patients: - iatrogenic respiratory alkalosis - no BMs for days with no intervention - positive fluid balance You can’t give good ICU care if you’re not prioritizing good, detailed supportive care.

I once sketched out an algorithm for intraoperative struggling, which I'll release one day, but I'll show one of the key parts here: Basically, one of the *first* things to *always* do whenever you're struggling for any reason is to figure out if your L hand is optimized.

When your former chief resident becomes your attending and then you are their chief resident it’s pretty cool. Working with these talented women is a joy!
