As we open another load of auditions I thought I’d post some stats on the last show we cast that followed this format (first round via self tape, recalls in person).

Yesterday great honour to listen to a talk by Professor Carole Boyce Davies about her new book, Black Women’s Rights. It was wonderful to be in the room with some very dynamic and powerful women. She’s giving another talk at New Beacon Books Thursday night. Go hear her ❤️

Went to see Further than the Furthest thing at The Young Vic. A very interesting play set on a volcanic island (based on Tristan de Cunha)until they are forced to evacuate after an eruption. Atmospheric with amazing lighting, video projection,eerie music. Captivating performances

The amazing Cleo Sylvester (Honey Bee Mama ) and her blues band at The Tabard Theatre. A fabulous evening of blues land friend, old and new. Cleo jade the place rock. ❤️❤️❤️

Day 1. Had 2 wonderful day at the London Book Fair. Went to many lectures, had meetings and caught up with friends.

Wonderful evening at Barbican Theatre for moving, powerful play ‘The Meaning of Zong’ written, co-directed and starring the phenomenally talented Giles Terera. Tells the tragic story of 132 alive slave being thrown into the sea for an insurance claim. Fab music, brilliant cast❤️

Press Night at The Rose Theatre to see the amazingly versatile Adjoa Andoh’s Richard111. An extraordinary performance, interesting choices that makes you sit up and see things from a different gaze. Go see.

Wonderful evening at SOAS - Hidden Histories: Celebrating through Masquerade, celebrating the Gambia. Talks, music and masquerading. Chaired by Kadija Sesay, with The Gambian High Commissioner to the UK, Her Excellency Dr Fatou Bensouda, the amazing sculptor Sokari Douglas Camp.

Black opera BLUE, Coliseum. Completely blown away. Set in NY. Black cop’s son killed by white cop. Devastation for parents and community. Moving. Brilliant performance from Kenneth Kellogg (father) and phenomenal Nadine Benjamin (mother). Ends tomorrow but watch out for return.

Went to see Unseen Unheard last night. A wonderful and moving play written by Naomi Denny and sensitively directed by Simon Frederick and Suzann McLean. Beautifully performed by a fabulous cast who had us laughing and then pulling at our heartstrings. ❤️

AUGUST IN ENGLAND at the Bush Theatre. Another wonderful evening. Superb debut one man play written and performed by Lenny Henry. Full of laughter, fabulous one liners and poignant. Story of the Windrush scandal . Brilliantly co-directed by Lynnette Linton and Daniel Bailey. ❤️
