I've received a few good "rejections" from great journals. I'm wondering if I should feel encouraged. Maybe I'm heading in the right direction?

Lately, I'm cutting my poems as much as I can, and I'm finding out deleting an adjective or a whole line makes a difference. In my latest revision, I removed 3 lines, and the poem doesn't miss them at all.

Jeffrey McDaniel has always been one of my favorite writers. Seeing him read in D.C. in 2003 inspired me to focus on poetry writing.

I cheesily said to my wife that she was my best present this year. And I also received fruitcake, which I love.

I used to love going to movie theaters. To see comedies, cheesy blockbusters. An escape. Now, some people do go to theaters, not me. Threat still too active from the virus. Maybe some day.

I received a poem acceptance from The Southern Review. Very excited!

I'm really enjoying Matthew Zapruder's new memoir. What I didn't realize at first was that it was as much a craft book as it was a story about his life. What he says about writing poetry is very interesting; like achieving balance between surreal/reality.

Wrote two poem drafts in the middle of the night. That seems like the best time for me to write, somehow.

The only poems of mine I like are recent ones, and I'm too tired to submit them. The ones I've already submitted will come back rejected, I'm confident of.
