In the largest study of problematic alcohol use (PAU) to date led by Hang Zhou of Yale Psychiatry, researchers identified >100 risk variants across multiple ancestral populations and found significant genetic correlations with PAU in non-European individuals. bit.ly/3t6wDnj

A study led by AlexanderSHatoum found evidence for a generalized addiction risk factor that identified 19 risk variants including variants involved in dopamine regulation, along with many substance-specific variants involving drug metabolism and receptors. go.nature.com/3N3M2v7
