Some thoughts on core facilities. 1. These are enormous all-boat lifters if supported well. 2. They should be run by experts who are commensurately valued and supported. This is a career path. Include names on papers if they’ve contributed insight, even if fee-for-service. /1

Super interesting! Whenever I'm training on a system with a far-red filter I always get the trainee to look just in case but hadn't yet found anyone who could see it. They do exist though, I need to keep trying!

1. My top imaging trick to trainees is that before they spend any time taking pictures of the data they just sit there for a while & look at the stuff. Like seriously, sit back, crank some tunes, get cozy & spend some quality time with your slides.
