So, I married an ER doc... PROS: expert-level care for dislocated elbows, lacerated eyelids, & removal of stitches (yep, all the same kid 🤦🏾‍♂️) CONS: I woke up this morning to her doing a jaw-thrust maneuver on me because I was *allegedly* snoring (see below) Y’all ain’t right

A whirlwind trip to NC, full of good folks & great work. So powerful in Charlotte & Raleigh to see so many groups energized & ready to go knock on doors and get people trusted vaccination information. Never seen anything like it! Days like today are why I know #WeCanDoThis!

July 1st = brand new interns…& I just so happen to be attending on the wards! Working w/brand new interns has me reflecting on how much I’ve grown since my 1st day as a doctor: e.g., ⬆️ knowledge/experience/humility & ⬇️ stuff in my pockets! 😂 Welcome to residency, docs!

Growing up, July 4th was one occasion each year where my mom & her siblings would get brand new outfits: always in 🔴⚪️🔵. Carrying it forward, my siblings & I would wear those same colors on 7/4. Now, my kids do, too! Nice to get some traditions back this year! #HowDoYou4th🇺🇸

Joined U.S. Surgeon General this am to talk COVID-19 equity w/6 past US Surgeons General. Although they served under different political ideologies, they showed how politics don’t dictate what is good public health. “There’s no daylight between us [when it comes to public health].”

Had a blast talking COVID w/UVA students, Larry Sabato & Terry McAuliffe. Not sure what’s hotter: 96 degrees or the tough ?s from these young scholars! The future is in good hands. Also, pretty sure this pic was TMac giving me that “get back in the game” talk. Never left! 😂👌🏾

All bc Delta variant continues to play zero games… I worked Fri/Sat nights & it’s tough seeing the rate of COVID admissions rivaling my busiest COVID unit nights of 2020. Asked each patient if they were vaccinated. With 1 exception (partially vaxxed), they all said no. 😔

Just got back home from a long trip talking COVID-19 & the social determinants of health across the South (SC, FL, GA, AL). This isn’t the fun, flashy or easy work…but it IS the necessary work. Grateful to be in this space for such a time as this. Miles to go before I sleep…
