Congratulations to Egypt on this historic achievement! As Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus notes, “Malaria is as old as Egyptian civilization itself, but the disease that plagued pharaohs now belongs to its history and not its future.” You can learn more about how Egypt became malaria-free here ➡️

To accelerate progress against malaria, we need to keep innovating. Introducing and scaling up quality new tools, boosting supply & demand and cutting costs are key. The Global Fund, @Gavi, Unitaid and U.S. President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) are shaping markets in this critical area.

Tragically, malaria—a preventable and treatable disease—claimed nearly 600,000 lives in 2023 due to a lack of timely and consistent access to essential tools. This disease also undermines health systems' ability to address other health issues. #Malaria #GlobalHealth
