Here's something that will blow your mind: The average person today lives better than kings and queens throughout most of human history. Medieval royalty died from infected cuts.  They lived in freezing castles filled with rats and human waste.  They never tasted chocolate

As someone who covers neurosurgery trauma at a county hospital in San Francisco, I'm a huge fan of this. Repeated traumatic brain injuries are just one of the "end stages" of untreated mental illness and drug abuse. This will help us treat these individuals.

President Trump signed an executive order to get homeless people off city streets. Since Governor Newsom must always be oppositional, I expect California to respond by transferring more homeless people to streets in downtown LA and SF.

A monopoly is building before your eyes. Today, a patient needed an EGD, so I sent referral to GI. Was told they "only accept referrals from inside their company" This practice needs to END IMMEDIATELY. One hospital has now swallowed up half the state. There's no reason for

I love this framework for reform: "1. Provide doctors immediate relief by halting Medicare FFS pay cuts, put in place a temporary payment update, and direct the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) to add more precise data to its annual report to accurately assess the

In a 24 hour shift, neurosurgery residents spent a full 2 hours just clicking through orders in the EHR. This is a surgical trainee, simply clicking orders. This is in addition to 2 hours on notes and 3 hours navigating through charts & notes.

If you’re tired of the medical school-industrial racket, Dutch Rojas is your guy. They call it “academic medicine.” It’s really elite universities and hospitals colluding for power and greed. He is exposing how “nonprofit” hospitals use tax breaks to fund BS while patients

Lisa Hamill Anthony DiGiorgio, DO, MHA Wouldn’t it be great if there was a network of direct pay primary care, doctors and transparent payments, surgeons, and imaging centers. These facilities typically provide care at 10% of what the healthcare system charges. We need to bring back physician owned hospitals.

remember—they can afford luxury lounges for pro athletes 📍UCLA health is just one example of how “nonprofit” medical systems operate. It’s happening

I remember as a medical student, a certain EMR was being launched in a hospital in which I was rotating. The EMR roll-out team was hosting a session with the doctors, explaining how the latest update added just a few clicks here and made things just a few seconds slower there.

I saw a new patient in the office. I commented how sick he had been in the hospital. He said “Sick?! I spent 7 days in the insensitive care unit! When I finally got out I had this incredible nurse. Boy, could she type. Not sure if she could nurse.”
