As we wrap up our One-Child Policy DBQ, Ss reflected on their new knowledge and understanding of the policy using the “I Used to Think…” routine. We’ve talked a lot about the importance of knowing enough to have an opinion. I feel that mindset is reflected by their responses.

It’s no secret who the crowd’s pulling for today. Loud roars for the student team. Millard North Middle School was the first Unified Champion in Nebraska. Now, all middle schools in the district have hung champion banners!

There’s 30 of these banners hanging in Nebraska schools. Millard North Middle School has two of them. “There’s nothing better than this. It just makes you feel proud.” The Unified team leads the staff 20-10 at half. Look out for the full feature next week!

Immediate instructional impact. 5 minute video on what’d happen if the Amazon Rainforest disappeared. Watched and explained in three “chunked” concepts: local impacts, global impacts, solutions. Took 30 min. And that’s good and necessary time to effectively manage working memory.
