Thank you to School District of Ashland for having me yesterday to talk about budgeting for the future of public schools. Schools deserve the funding they are owed rather than having to turn to referendum for cover increasing costs. We need to fight for every dollar for every student.

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Minister of Education Armin Schwarz and his team from our sister-state Hessen, Germany! We had a great conversation about global learning. Partnerships like this help prepare students for a more connected and multilingual future.

Congratulations to 2026 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year, Mark Acherman from Darlington Redbirds! Mark has spent the last thirty years of his life in service to teaching kids about science, the great outdoors, and how to best take care of their community. Way to go, Mark!

Today, the Joint Committee on Finance begins its executive sessions on the 2025-27 Biennial Budget. Once again, I am calling on lawmakers to do what is right and make a meaningful investment in Wisconsin’s public schools. Our kids and the future of Wisconsin deserve it.
