Delighted to see Guardian Universities rankings out yesterday. Rankings aren’t perfect, etc etc. But what a ringing endorsement of UlsterUni Psychology staff- landing 7th out of 116 courses in the UK. What an exceptional bunch of colleagues I have!

Huge gratitude to my colleague Professor Paul Dunlop and his team of researchers. This is the outcome we’ve all been waiting for 👏 Persistence works! The Science has spoken the truth, and finally the government has listened! Science rocks! 👏👏👏

Sincere gratitude Charles Ward TD for presenting the initial wave of findings from our research. This is only the beginning of highlighting the unacceptable mental health impacts to DC families. Recognition to Oisin Keenan, Prof J Murphy, Dr R McHugh, Eileen Doherty Professor Paul Dunlop

Tks for sharing Paul. Our research findings are harrowing and may be triggering for those affected. Please reach out to your GP/commuity support near to you (or indeed LifeLine ❤️ or Samaritans) if you feel distressed in any way after reading. Pre- print paper released v soon.

Please come along to our Ulster University ‘Ulster Talks ‘ on the 12th April in An Grianan Hotel (10.30am- 5pm). You will learn more about our ongoing research with Professor Paul Dunlop Oisin Keenan Eileen Doherty and many more- see Flyer below 👇

Evidence shows:homeowners who fear for their own safety experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, complex PTSD, suicidal ideation. Over time, barriers to enter & swiftly progress thru the grant scheme (feeling financially trapped) only prolong this toxic stress. Oisin Keenan

Professor Paul Dunlop Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage Considering our recent research report on the extremely concerning prevalence of depression, anxiety, complex PTSD & suicidal ideation in homeowners, the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage really needs to stop & rethink what they are doing to already distressed families. This is unacceptable!
