Every day has the potential of discovery even for the people and things we think we know. Over the past 50 years, “Toblerone” has been my favorite chocolate. Yet, I never noticed “the bear on the logo”. Be observant to discover.

To study bile is not easy. To study bile of a rare disease like patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis for detecting environmental chemicals using high resolution mass spec is almost a Herculean effort. Kudos to the team pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36687160/

Mayo Clinic researchers have discovered a link between an abundance of specific gut bacteria and the triggering of an immune response against a person's tissue. They also found this happens even before the clinical symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis appear. mayocl.in/45V6VQT

We live in a dynamic environment that changes faster than our genes. We must study exposures in a systematic, scalable manner to understand how exposures could contribute to disease or protect from disease via ⁦The New York Times⁩ ⁦Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine⁩ nytimes.com/2024/01/11/wel…

An elaborate study of epigenetic markers in primary sclerosing cholangitis and primary biliary cholangitis. Accelerated biological aging and hypomethylation are characteristic of both disease although methylated associated genes differ. journals.lww.com/hepcomm/fullte…

Exciting news! Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine has a key role in groundbreaking research funded by ARPA-H to explore how environmental exposures interact with genetics to affect treatment responses. Imagine a future where meds are tailored to your genes and environment! mayocl.in/3XDgous
