We're beyond thrilled to be hosting our third annual #BCC3 Community Advisory Board (CAB) Meeting TODAY! Follow us from 10am-12pm PST for live updates about our women-centered community-based #HIVresearch and contributions from the CAB

#BCC3 CAB: At this stage, we are accelerating efforts to recruit specific demographics so that our research is reflective of the diversity of women in BC. This includes intentional efforts to reach more youth living with HIV & women who identify as African, Caribbean and/or Black

#BCC3 CAB At our 2022 CAB meeting, we reported that we applied for funding to expand recruitment outside of the Vancouver lower mainland as per community feedback. Well...we acquired the funding and have done two recruitment drives in Prince George and Victoria in the last year!

#BCC3 CAB Our MD/PhD trainee Shayda Swann has been investigating hormone levels and her analyses have found evidence of lower testosterone levels in women living with HIV, compared to HIV-negative women. Next, she’ll be looking at whether this impacts key women's health outcomes!

#BCC3 CAB: Our team has been doing some qualitative work too! Led by Elizabeth King , we have held focus groups to understand the perceptions of menopause & menopausal treatments among women living with HIV. From these, three main conclusions have emerged (see next slide)

1. Providers need to better prepare women for menopause 2. For women living with HIV, pill burden, consideration of alternative therapies and clear messaging are important priorities for menopause therapies 3. There is a call for continued efforts in women-centred research
