Have read three entire Percy Jackson books to my 8yo, and I will scream if Rick Riordan makes one of his characters purse their lips YET AGAIN. It’s like their faces can’t move in any other way…

This week I learned how miraculous antibiotics are for an actual true bacterial sinusitis - from personal experience 😂. Hooray for Augmentin!

HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer is no joke either. 35 radiation treatments? Weekly chemo? A surgery where I cut both the inside of your throat and the outside of your neck? Or you can get the vaccine. I know which one I choose.

And HPV now causes more throat cancer in the US than cervical cancer. HPV-related throat cancers continue to rise in incidence, impacting men and women (mostly men) as young as 30 and up into their 90s. Totally preventable with the HPV vaccine!

I work in a much smaller hospital than any I did my training at. It’s amazing how the entire place can feel the ripple effect of a single incident, both in good ways and bad.

I remember I didn’t have any awareness of world or natnl events. Not bc my parents coddled me but bc I was a child. 9/11 was 1 wk before I left for college. For 4 yrs, I learned about how life is more complex than our childhood naivety can comprehend. Why would we move backwards?

In preop before a big case, I tell my patient that it will be over before they know it, and they’ll be waking up in recovery. I then tell their person that they have the hard part: the waiting.
