We’re calling on the Welsh Government to uplift both the value & eligibility criteria of Welsh benefits 📈 The ‘silent squeeze’ is locking people in real hardship out of the help they need and cutting the value of payments they do receive. New briefing: ow.ly/ReRT50Tl6t3

We welcome that Health and Social Care Committee has made recommendations seeking to clarify the use of unregistered and out of area placements, and about amendments to the Bill that would require foster carers to register with Social Care Wales. We await the Welsh Government response! 2/2

Excellent article from Sian Thomas Senedd Research on the Health & Social Care Bill, considering the impact of the elimination of profit made by providers of accommodation to children in care. In advance of Welsh Parliament debate on the principles of the Bill, tomorrow👇👇

Children from low-income households affected by 'No Recourse to Public Funds' are excluded from receiving free school meals, in our #ChildRights Respecting #NationofSanctuary ?! Welsh Government this needs to be urgently addressed. Children's Legal Centre Wales strongly supports this call👇

•The UN recommends the age of criminal responsibility should be at least 14. •Science tells us the human brain is not fully wired for decision-making until even later. •The countries with the most effective justice systems all have an age higher than that. Why don’t we learn?

The age of criminal responsibility at 10, in England, Wales, NI is the lowest in Europe. The Commission for Justice for Wales recommends raising it & so does UNChildRights Criminalising children is proven not to work, it does more harm than good. Time for change! 👇
