The theme of this year's #EDAW2024 is ARFID, but what is ARFID? ARFID, or "Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder", is an eating disorder that is characterised by an avoidance of certain foods and/or a restriction in the amount of food eaten.

Introducing.... ANCHOR ⚓ Our new support programme. Anchor is for parents/carers of young people aged 5-17 who have an ARFID diagnosis or are displaying ARFID behaviours. It’s a safe space – somewhere where parents/carers can go to talk about how they’re feeling.

Why work in the area of eating disorders? 🧵I work in this area because I passionately believe people can recover. Every day, I have the privilege of seeing lives changed and transformed. I work in teams that build hope, who strive to understand and empower those they work with.

This is also highly relevant to eating disorders. People are fighting their biology. Poor response to treatment is not the result of a lack of motivation. We need to fight stigma together.
