Interesting sessions today at the AFAANZ Conference in Auckland. I discussed a paper on CEO earnings-based compensation and ESG-incidents. Lots of catching up with academics from various universities.

I had a fabulous time at the 2024 AFAANZ conference in Auckland. A great opportunity to reconnected with old friends & meet new friends. I’m excited about all the new ideas I’ve picked up & renewed enthusiasm for my current research projects. Looking forward to next year’s AFAANZ

Good morning! It’s Week 10 of Term 2 at UNSW and the last week of the Term. This week’s topic in the course I’m teaching is the translation of foreign currency of subsidiaries.

I’m marking exam papers today. A good thing about online exam papers is the marking can start straight after the exam. I can have markers who live in different time zones too. Good to see some students really studied and got the concepts.

Sightseeing here on my visit in Finland and enjoying the fantastic hosting by Jesper Haga at Hanken School of Economics . Yesterday I saw Svedjehamn, Kvarken Archipelago - interesting geological features visible that were left after the melting following the last Ice Age.

An excellent opportunity to present my research on back door listed firms and information environment at the #BACC2024 seminar. Thanks to the discussant Gustav Finne of Hanken School of Economics the audience for great feedback on the paper.

Starting my journey from Vaasa Finland back to Sydney - 3 flights. I had an excellent time visiting and talking research with Jesper Haga at Hanken School of Economics Also a pleasure to talk with academics in the finance department and accounting department.

Waiting for the flight to Hong Kong (2nd flight) on my way back to Sydney. My best travel accessories this trip: (1) flight compression socks; (2) a wireless headphone Bluetooth connector for plane TVs; (3) a long book for connections - no need to recharge.

I’m in the USA for a conference this week. Enjoying a coffee outdoors in the summer weather.
