If you are attending #NASPAA2024 on Wednesday, please join André Lecours, Heidi Smith, and I for a discussion about comparative federalism in the public administration classroom. We will have examples from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. NASPAA

Washington DC is always a great venue for public affairs conferences. #NASPAA2024 has been a good opportunity for reflection upon our shared challenges and opportunities in public service education.

October employment numbers show continued growth in government jobs (+40,000) : a great time for a MPA degree. “Over the month, employment continued to trend up in state government (+18,000).”

This is a good thread. As an editor, it’s frustrating to see a manuscript that doesn’t make full use of the data to chase the question. Dr. Ashley T. Rubin has some good suggestions here.

Today, we celebrated the completion of the Professional Skills Seminar led by UGA Vinson Institute for our @UGA_PA_Policy MPA students. I can’t thank our friends at the Institute of Government enough for investing in our students’ career readiness.

Have you read "Designing urban bureaucracies for coproduction" from the Fall 1985 issue of SLGR? We're digging into the archives! If you're conducting research on local government coproduction, submit to State and Local Government Review. jstor.org/stable/4354856

I’m glad we could watch the first Athens Rock Lobsters game at the new Aikens Ford Arena tonight. It’s good to see hockey in Athens; but lots of room for improvement in game operations at the new arena. For example, check out the clock and score. On the plus, the food was good!

I had a great day at UniversitĂ© d'Ottawa | University of Ottawa thinking about shared rule in federal systems. Thanks to the organizers for the invitation to discuss local government claims to shared rule, allowing me to revisit ideas from Ostrom, Cooley, and others. I was very happy to be back in Ottawa! 🇹🇩

Leaving College Station after the 3rd annual meeting of public affairs program directors in the SEC. These meetings have been great regional conversations for public affairs education. Thanks to our friends at Texas A&M University The Bush School, TAMU for hosting this year!
