🚨Stop & watch the future of the NHS‼️ My blood is boiling: ‘I’d not heard of physician associates until about 3 years ago’ (now in Resus alone) ‘We work exactly like doctors do just different training’ & ‘The medic is confident she’s addressed the most urgent of issues’ ☠️

RCP is so compromised You can’t convince me that those election results are legit - something fishy about the whole thing Anyway, they’re not needed. When we started calling out how dangerous PAs were, every organisation was singing their praises Now the Faculty of PAs doesn’t

Mine is clinical: As an F1 we had a major haemorrhage on the ward Grabbed the first computer I saw to put in a request for urgent blood products, whilst calling the lab Senior nurse who sees what is going on, PULLS MY CARD out of the computer, logging me off as I’m giving

This is the kind of deregulation we need. Bin TABs, bin MSFs, bin reflections, bin CPDs, bin regulatory annual appraisals, bin 5 yearly revalidation. We don't need regulatory affirmation on an annual or 5 yearly basis. We can have an employer lead annual appraisal process for

To expand: This same nurse used to try to kick out out of a large STORAGE CUPBOARD where my colleague and I would work on portable computers due to lack of office space Her reason? She needed to do her Headspace meditations as she has anxiety and there’s nowhere quiet enough on

I don’t know which doctors need to hear this but… When you’re handing over a patient who self identifies as ‘non-binary’, you also need to handover their biological sex. It’s very relevant.

According to the GMC there is formal supervision of PAs, and now a new category - “day-to-day” fluffy, sort of no big deal, informal supervision. Why is this important? 🧵

This is generally the constant state in hospitals Unmanageable workloads Consistently poor staffing Responsibility for life and death Thankless backlogs of work Egos and pettiness Poor leadership I’d urge young people to seek an alternative career tbh

Why are resident doctors striking? Fully qualified doctor: £38,800 Doctor’s assistant: £47,810 Name *any* other profession where an assistant is paid £9,010 more than their supervisor. Wes Streeting you continue to enable this farce when nhs funding is so scarce.

Hopefully the term "Physician Associate" is still protected in law in order to hold them to account if they fail to identify themselves correctly as Assistants. And hopefully they're confined to completing the jobs created by doctor led ward rounds. Theatres, clinics, and

🚨 NEW: FOI response shows NHS England has spent £62 million on training Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates over the last three years. £54.3m on PAs. £8m on AAs. 💰 They’re also directly funding salaries for PA and AA 'ambassadors' - £275k and counting

ED amazes me, there’s an ACP I’ve thought was a doctor all this time. PAs and ACPs everywhere, all claiming they’re not replacing doctors, all claiming they’re complementary and all doing the exact same thing a doctor does with their day (but to a worse quality for more money)

Not surprising seeing DREEAM endorse this ACP propaganda which openly acknowledges differences in non-medical and medical teaching, listing not being a doctor as a challenge yet openly advocating for ACPs replacing doctors. It’s not imposter syndrome if you’re an imposter.
