A great NCEAS roundtable by the Drought Synthesis Group showed how coordinated, distributed experiments such as DroughtNet lead to great ecological insight—especially when they have global representation, are easy to join, and have motivated researchers onboard.

Microbes play a critical role in helping plants deal with drought.
