I strongly recommend stem cell experts to read this important paper by PhD student Enes Ugur, Mann and Leonhardt labs, with a small contribution from my lab:) Note the highly useful interactive Web App

We're thrilled to announce the preprint of our latest research on establishing human axial stem cells. Check out how we coaxed neuromesodermal progenitors and posterior neural tube progenitors to make stem cells! I'm incredibly proud of our students and amazing collaborators.

Impressive work capturing self renewing Neuromesodermal Progenitors (#NMPs) in culture (both mouse and human) from Micha Drukker, the amazing Val Wilson and colleagues biorxiv.org/content/10.110… is a feat with important theoretical and practical implications. Also some surprises.

It is SOOOO painful to see the selfishness of a ruling class that denies opportunities to its motor of change, the young. The self harm that Brexit inflicts on the UK is endless. How can they refuse what's an obvious, positive, helpful, enriching offer…. shorturl.at/avyA6

My last day at MPI Dortmund - thanks for 8 transformative years! Now looking forward to continuing some of my lab’s operations and to start new projects at the LACDR in the group of Micha Drukker in Leiden!

The John Templeton Foundation, which generously funds my lab's project focusing on an iPS Zoo approach to decipher lifespan, wrote up a beautiful story by Bethany Brookshire, accompanied by an illustration by Marina Muun. Thank you, Bethany, for explaining it so well!

Colleagues, it’s been a while since I last tweeted, but I have some exciting news! En route to Australia, I had a fantastic stopover visit and gave a lecture at the Hong Kong Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology (CTSCB). Left with a taste for more!

Officially habilitated at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich! 🎉 I taught in the Human Biology program there before moving to Leiden. Loved giving a lecture and catching up with colleagues and collaborators!

Fellow academics, what's your take on service costs for lab equipment? Our 3-year-old Sony SH800 sorter malfunctioned, and Sony quoted €4,000 for a 4-hour repair, plus parts and taxes. Is paying over €1,000 per hour reasonable?
