Congrats to Jersey City for having the most advance votes (VBM + early voting) cast at 9,299 so far! Cherry Hill is in second at 9,100.* *Mail ballots will still be coming in. For early voting specifically, Jersey City also came in first at 4,786 and Union City at 4,643.

With about 1.2 million votes in the count so far for both parties, this will be the biggest primary turnout since 2020. And it is the biggest turnout for a gubernatorial primary since 2001. Voters and candidates alike deserve credit.

Prime example of how unrestricted New Jersey’s write-in laws are compared to many other states. In other states, these would be considered & reported as undervotes; because Gottheimer, Sherrill, Baraka, Fulop and Sweeney did not file as a write-in candidate for the GOP Primary.

Residents in the South Ward of City of Newark have never had access to the Newark Liberty International Airport train station, stymying mobility for residents who most need public transit. Now, a $160M project is underway to right that wrong. northjersey.com/story/news/tra…

Maybe last piece of primary analysis: The reason Sean Spiller won Cumberland County is because active and retired teachers make up a disproportionately large share of an otherwise tiny primary electorate. This is one of the poorest areas of NJ; many voters are low propensity.

If California wants faster results, it needs to encourage more in-person machine voting (both before & on Election Day). NJ took that route, after the 2020 elections were all-mail due to COVID. Right now, it encourages voters to drop their mail ballots off as late as possible.

Not to worry, New York City’s 1.1 million unaffiliated voters will be staying home in the air conditioning, because they cannot vote in primaries.

I had never noticed this before: the old boundary line between East and West Jersey (abolished in 1702) seems to still be visible in municipality borders spanning from Hunterdon to Ocean Counties
