I heard a rumor that the F5 were supposed to all be wolves - hence the Wolf Clan honoring them with masks. When Lego designers came up with the design for Drix being an insect instead, Kur was changed to a wolf-like animal (jackal) to add some diversity. Zarkt was always a wolf.

I heard a rumor the Administrator story was supposed to be told in Dragons Rising but external forces made the writers remove it.
