Oliver S Adam Marblestone There’s a great paper from Catherine Dulac that finds that lonely mice are comforted by the soft touch of a conspecific. But the brain heuristic for that seems to be really just “soft touch”. Squeezing through a cloth-lined tunnel triggers the same system! :) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
