📣📣 NEW briefing from the Royal College of Psychiatrists sent to all MPs “It is [our] view that there are questions which remain outstanding about whether it is possible to provide adequate protections and safeguards for people and if so what those necessary measures would be”

Are you a parent, spouse or carer of somebody with eating disorder? If the #AssistedDyingBill passes on Friday it may allow our loved ones with anorexia to seek an Assisted Death without our involvement. Sign our joint letter to help protect them organise.network/s/952f23fc5dff

It’s very concerning to hear an MP making inaccurate statements to the public. This morning on Nick Ferrari, Kim stated that mental health conditions are “excluded” from the Bill. The government’s impact assessment says the opposite — see below.

I am trying to concentrate on work improving care for people with severe eating disorders. It is extremely difficult when the concerns are misrepresented in Parliament by Kim Leadbeater MBE MP. Under Parliamentary Privilege.

Under the Bill a doctor can raise assisted suicide with your anorexic 16-year-old daughter who’s never thought of it. Neil Shastri-Hurst rejects a ban on raising it with a child: “To deny them the opportunity for a considered conversation about their future…is to abandon them”

We have always included Zinc supplementation (among others) for initial refeeding in anorexia - based on decades of research. Just wondering how many other NHS services do this? This is a recent paper from a leading medical service in the US addressing the issue.

The #DumpTheScales March on June 21st isn't just a walk. It’s a community of people who are affected by eating disorders coming together to call for change. It's about connection and solidarity. Here Anna Carnegie from Eating Disorders Clinical Research Network shares her reasons for joining.🌻

I am so fortunate to have benefitted from high-quality care from a dedicated team who held hope for me when I didn't have it myself and supported me to live a life worth living. This shouldn't be a matter of fortune. It should be the reality for anyone affected by *any* ED.
