We look forward to reading her latest book project when it is published, which is currently titled "The Portrait at Court: Catherine de’ Medici as Subject, Collector, and Observer." Congrats once more to Sheila Ffolliott!

Catherine Arthur Dorothy Dunnett Soc. Jane Galt Goodreads [That is the only novel by Dunnett I have never read. But I have it! I am a sucker for Lymond and Johnson, I thoroughly enjoy the super-smart super well-educated heroes]

Catherine Arthur Dorothy Dunnett Soc. Jane Galt Goodreads The Johnson Johnson books were the first books I read by Dorothy Dunnett. When I spotted the Warner Books paperback edition reissue in a bookstore in the mid-1980s, I was astonished that this author had written in a completely different genre.

Standing in front of a cannon is pretty dangerous, but standing behind one isn't much safer when it's fired! This gun weighs 2,463kg (about the same as 3.5 cows, 10 pigs or 2000 human brains), plus the weight of the oak carriage, so you'd want to keep your distance!

On this day 14th April 1471 was fought the crucial Battle of Barnet in the Wars of the Roses. Fought in thick mist on the morning of Easter Day, it confirmed the authority of King Edward IV as King of England. Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, named the Kingmaker, was killed.

This book is gorgeous. We were delighted to be able to support the crowdfunding to publish it. Our signed copy (thank you, Michael) was a prize at the #DunnettWeekend raffle and will be treasured by the winner.
