Does evolution optimize for kinetic efficiency at an individual enzyme level? Are there other generic physical mechanisms that could help accelerate otherwise inefficient reactions in long enzymatic pathways? Read more in our latest work in Biophysical Journal cell.com/biophysj/fullt…

Our latest paper to wrap up the year. We propose that intersegmental jumps that leverage looped conformations of chromatin can lead to efficient search. Read the preprint at: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Led by Shuvadip Dutta & Adarshkrishnan. Fantastic collab. with Ranjith Padinhateeri (1/4)

Our new work: how the 3D network organization of chromatin would help/hinder proteins trying to find their target. Using Hi-C data, Shuvadip Dutta shows that TAD structures provide optimal configurations for proteins to slide to their targets near TAD boundaries! mithunmittir

When Professor Muthukumar works out every bit of the phase separation theory of polymers in a workshop we organized IIT Bombay; mithunmittir Anand Srivastava Samir K Maji Shuvadip Dutta Vinoth

Please visit posters from the lab at the Biophysical Society meeting Biophysical Society Tuesday, 13 Feb, at 1:45 PM. Exhibit Hall AB, Poster Boards: B 192, 193, 197. Presenters: Sangram Kadam Vinoth Shuvadip Dutta

Shuvadip Dutta is at the Annual Biophysical Society meet 2024. He has a flash talk on Tuesday, 13th Feb @5:55PM. Perfect way to round out the day! And has an poster as well if you want to discuss in-depth! #BPS2024

Excited to be a part of #BPS2024 and present my work. for details, have a look at our preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… mithunmittir Ranjith Padinhateeri #Philadelphia Biophysical Society

Do participate in this meeting on the Interdisciplinary aspect of chromatin organization and gene regulation at ICTS Bangalore (ICTS) in September 2024. Pedagogical workshop + conference. Register here: icts.res.in/program/chroma… Dimple Notani mithunmittir

> Sangram Kadam defended his PhD thesis today. Congratulations Dr. Sangram Kadam! Have a look at some of the cool work that Sangram did: scholar.google.com/citations?hl=e…

PREPRINT ALERT‼️My 1st solo work is out where I study the effects of valencies of multivalent proteins & chromatin monomers on chromatin conformations. Special thanks to mithunmittir for constant encouragement & feedback, thanks Shuvadip Dutta for feedback biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

If you have qualified Physics or Mathematics JRF, apply for PhD at IIT Bombay (google IIT Bombay PhD admission). Apply to Biosciences and Bioengineering Department Biosciences & Bioengineering, IIT Bombay and Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH)-IIT Bombay. We are recruiting Physics and Mathematics students for PhD. Last date October 21.

Is it possible to reach from point A to point B faster in presence of barriers or road blockers? Using theory (exact analytical calculations + simulations) and table-top experiments, we show that it is possible for certain types of barriers..The work is now out in Soft Matter !!

Our new work "Liquid–liquid phase separation of lamin drives altered chromatin organization in cardiomyopathic mutations of lamin A" is now out in NAR. Experiments by Subhradip Nath, Shreyasi & Duhita. Led by mithunmittir & Kaushik Sengupta. 🔗shorturl.at/q5qr3
