I'm so pleased for Dr Rachelle Balez๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ฌ๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐จ along with @astrocyteNet Greg T Sutherland et al that this is out now: Increased neuronal nitric oxide synthase in #Alzheimerโs disease mediates spontaneous calcium signalling and divergent glutamatergic responses Molecular Horizons @ UOW liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/arโฆ

TDP-43-mediated neurodegeneration is complex. We show that prior to disease onset in a mouse model of ALS/FTD, cortex neurons elicit a transient increase in protective chaperones that combat TDP-43 aggregation. Read it Nature Communications: rdcu.be/dy1PM

Proud Dzung Do-Ha and I could share our #STEM journies with female students from my old high school (shout out to Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts) in association with Multicultural Communities Council of the Illawarra and the UOW and iAccelerate LIFT program.

Fantastic ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology Cell & Brain Workshop this week! Understanding how #quantum #sensing & #imaging tech can help understand neurodegenerative disorders. Exciting prospects in this important area. Thanks Irina Kabakova, Lezanne, Dzung Do-Ha and everyone for making it happen!

We're hiring! Join our team at Molecular Horizons @ UOW to study mitochondrial DNA replication using single-molecule imaging and cryo-EM. Looking for someone with strong experience in protein biochemistry. ๐๏ธ Apply by 29 April 2025 ๐ uow.edu.au/about/jobs/jobโฆ Jacob Lewis ๐งฌ ๐ท
