An article today in The Herald highlighting the worrying lack of progress in upgrading outdated meters & systems that control heating/hot water for 000s of people. Only two months to go until a critical service closure and unacceptable uncertainty.

There is a lot to think about in this article. It is important that social targeting to reduce costs gets things right. So much scope for improvement. Fairer more equitable access to affordable energy a must.

The RTS switch off is another example of commercial & governmental interests putting demands on already stretched third sector advice services. Brilliant people trying to help others navigate through this change. They need proper resourcing but rarely get it.

It is welcome that unit costs look set to fall albeit tempered by this happening when demand/consumption falls with warmer days/lighter nights. October/Jan are the most significant price points each year. Debt still rising, still no low cost social tariff/discount.

Just brilliant...Microsoft unable to continue to provide no-cost business premium licences to small charities despite its incredible profits. Pathetic...What options do we have but to increase yet more costs at a time when grant funders are expecting even more for less.

Any reductions are welcome yet energy remain unaffordable for far too many people. There is a real risk of normalising high energy costs, underplaying the impact of energy debt and the detrimental impact on health & wellbeing that living in a cold damp home brings.

UK Ministers consider easing winter fuel payment cuts. Let's hope so! Do the right thing. Reintroduce it then reform it to make it fairer. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Energy price cap falls from 1 July by 7% for gas/electric households. Reversing the April hike but leaving costs at winter highs. Debt unsustainably high, no social tariff/discount to help those that need it. A system needing reset for people above profit.

A positive outcome for so many people badly affected by shocking practices. Unbelievable that after more than 2yrs we are unclear about outcomes for British Gas customers whose practices were exposed in the national media. Same for OVO/Utilita customers.
