we have a commitment to providing contentful feedback on every submission! (if we're reading it in full, why wouldn't we?) so, we wanted to ask the writers whose work we read: what makes feedback helpful for you, & what makes it frustrating?

it's also just not good advice. leads a lot of people to believe they ought to be writing "scenes" when the ONE thing prose-fiction does especially well is elucidate interiority. Take advantage of the medium!

it’s been so much fun reading your submissions for the first issue! truly honoured by some of the things you all have sent our way. thus far issue 1 is about 10% full… as always we are telling on our own response time & acceptance rates at eddajournal.org/about

if you’re wondering why we have that fun deli ticket submission system (eddajournal.org/submit), there are two reasons: 1, it lets us read anonymously (we see files directly, not your message), & 2, it keeps works in order—those numbers are actually times, in milliseconds

open question for authors: is knowing our live acceptance rate helpful, insofar as it helps authors get access to a number they care about, without having to worry about submission bias, or paying for the privilege? or could it potentially intimidate, or foster elitism?

we could not be more impressed with the quality of the work people have sent us. thank you all for having believed in our mission, and for have given us the chance to put it to the test with you. keep on submitting, the first issue is looking like it will be a truly great one :)

yesterday, I resigned from my role as EIC of Palette Poetry due to censorship, neutrality, & painful conversations around the occupation of Palestine. I'm sad to leave this way, but I can't work for a company that frames genocide as complicated. tinyurl.com/re2ebkw4
