Stranger than fiction… This book can be found as part of our new King Harold II axe-head display. 'Harold – Last of the Saxon Kings' by the Lord Lytton details Harold’s life and reign. It was published in 1848 and is an early example of historical fiction. #museums #books

This beautiful headdress was recently donated to the museum. It was worn by Marion Faulkner on her wedding day to Philip Pennell. They lived in #WalthamAbbey for over 60 years.

👔Who remembers Austin Reed? 👔 This lovely advert from the early 1960s offers shoppers some great gift ideas for the gents. Founded in 1900, Austin Reed was very much part of High Streets for over 100 years. It even had stores on three ocean liners! #WalthamAbbey #Christmas
