New work out with Nesha Burghardt's group. During chronic social defeat stress, mice are fear conditioned to avoid the social target, opening the possibility for using social defeat stress as a window into fear learning about a social cue. authors.elsevier.com/c/1jl7jbrwfMesn

New research from the Krabbe lab! We used deep-brain imaging at the single cell level to show that amygdala interneurons are highly plastic across fear learning and extinction at both the ensemble and single neuron level. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

How does safety learning affect neuro-glial interactions? Check out Emma's exciting work at #SfN24 this AM, B95! Experience dependent oligo-PV pairing modifies PNNs and memory! Society for Neuroscience (SfN)

Two posters this AM Society for Neuroscience (SfN)! LBA29, Mia shows how & why IL projections to the basal forebrain vs amygdala become active in fear extinction. In L11, Rhonda shows how safety vs fear learning affect cue discrimination in both sexes.

We had a fabulous whirlwind of an #SfN24. Lots of interesting science and great people, as always! Exhausted but happy, we're back in NYC.

26 years after Larry Swanson emphasized “the amygdala is neither a structural or functional unit” we used sn-RNAseq to answer the question: “What is the [primate] amygdala?” Check out the preprint 👇 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New findings: We track visual sequences yet the brain's process is unclear. We discovered the sequence-tracking area in monkey's lateral prefrontal cortex is distinct from an adjacent subregion that reacts to other stimulus changes. #neuroscience 🧠 🧪 👩‍🔬 buff.ly/4fC3pzB

Physicians who go into research have to be dreamers. Only 1.5% of doctors work as scientists & they earn about 60% what they would make as clinicians. medscape.com/viewarticle/99… 5/6

If you or someone you know is 1) being impacted by govt firings, grants being pulled, etc, 2) is in AZ, NM, or MI, and 3) willing to go on record with your story, please DM me. We will put you in touch with AGs from these states that are working on legal action.

Check out the new Handbook of Electrophysiology that covers all kinds of ways to record activity! Great working with Drew B. Headley on standard equipment you need for in vivo physiology.
