EMBRIO Institute’s 3rd Annual Retreat started this morning. It’s so great to have most of us together in person for this exchange of research insights and learning! Big thanks to our guest panelists talking career paths.

We heard this morning from collaborators in our Thrust 1: Intracellular cellular signaling and integration work, and the progress and insights gained from this team science.

Presentations in Thrust 2: Cellular to multicellular communication and coordination in the plant system with collaborations between experimental and computational modeling.

Exciting progress in the Drosophila system of our Thrust 2: Cellular to multicellular communication and coordination.

In our Thrust 3A: Multicellular to organism-wide coordination and emergence we heard from the Mullins lab and their collaborators to determine signal integration for robust and coordinated actin- and myosin-mediated morphogenesis using the zebrafish embryo model system.

In our Thrust 3B: Multicellular to organism-wide coordination and emergence we heard from the Deng lab and their collaborators to how tissue-wide organization of epithelial sheets emerges from large-scale multicellular coordination through the study of wound sealing in zebrafish.

In Thrust 4: Pedagogical Research, Training, Diversity, and Outreach we heard from the Magana, Pienaar, Evans, Umulis, and Glazier labs about a new course piloted this summer, and an e-textbook project bringing in many instructional materials for learning computational modeling.

Scott Bolton presented on implementing our comprehensive bioimaging research data management plans.
