October 1st: official first day of driving my kid to school in the dark

Just heard my son yell from upstairs, “I heard GEESE and you know what that means? It’s FALL and they are MIGRATING to cause a ruckus SOMEWHERE ELSE.”

The October prompt from my agent was “Ghosts”. I interpreted it as spiritual visits from loved ones.

@OBrienSci It's like football minutes. You have a task that takes five minutes, but there are so many interruptions and other things that you don't actually wrap it up til ages later.

One of my favorite things about school mornings lately is that when I wake my son up, he crawls into my lap. He’s eight, getting tall and gangly. But his warm, sleepy body is still a little floppy as it shakes the night off, folding into me effortlessly, tiny again for a moment.

If I was Lego, I would release a special set of Jimmy Carter building a house for Habitat for Humanity and raise the age to 100 just for that set. All profits go to Habitat for Humanity. Total missed opportunity.

Holy shit this has been a very bad Emotional Support Eldest Daughter day so we will be having whatever leftovers are available for dinner and I give you permission to eat pie straight out of the pan if you feel like it ❤️❤️❤️
