ERCP perforations are rare (0.1-1%) but carry mortality up to 20%. Stapfer II (Periampullary) are commonly treated conservatively vs FCSEMS. Despite no dif in mortality, FCSEMS can significantly reduce % retroperitoneal abscess and shorten the hospital stay.
