EU proves that defence is the most important strategic priority. We propose to allocate €131 bn to defence, security and space projects within the European Competitiveness Fund. It’s 5X more than in today’s budget. This is a real deterrence! 🇪🇺will be defence-ready!

Defence Readiness will be also a priority for🇪🇺Member States to spend EU funds! We will encourage Member States and regions use National and Regional partnership plans to support investments for the development of national defence capabilities.

The EU will increase investment in space for competitiveness & defence! We will upgrade🇪🇺space systems Galileo, EGNOS, Copernicus, and ramp up IRIS², to meet the dual use challenges, an Earth observation governmental service & low Earth orbit positioning, navigation and timing.

The Global Europe Instrument will allow us to be players, not just payers. It will support the delivery of the New Pact for the Mediterranean and deepening of our ties with our Southern partners, while maintaining the flexibility in a volatile geopolitical environment. It is

3/4 #MFF For the first time ever, we acknowledge that new #tobacco and nicotine products pose health risks comparable to traditional ones. With new market developments and the need to protect future generations, rates should be further assessed.

4/4 #MFF With threats like African swine fever risking animal health, food security, & the viability of EU farmers, maintaining today’s financing is vital. We must ensure safety standards & oversight keep EU food safe — and farmers strong, supported, and on a level playing field.

Stronger external action means better outcomes in 🇪🇺 Europe The new Global Europe Fund - one of the core pillars of the newly approved Multiannual Financial Framework is the right tool to allow the EU to act more strategically in a rapidly changing world.

From strengthening our economic security critical to addressing irregular migration, stabilising fragile regions, and opening markets for European companies - stronger external action allows Europe to deliver more for its citizens.
