Foreign ministers remain focused on a diplomatic solution, but concerns about the war escalating are high. Any Iranian closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be extremely dangerous. My doorstep ahead of today’s Foreign Affairs Council ↓

Europe welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire by President Trump. It’s an important step towards restoring stability in a region in tension. This must be our collective priority. We call on Iran to engage seriously in a credible diplomatic process. Because the negotiating

The announced reprieve in fighting between Israel and Iran is good news but remains fragile. All sides should stand by this and refrain from further violence. All further escalation must be avoided. (1/2)

The EU stands in solidarity with all those affected, including Qatar last night. This is the moment to return to the negotiating table. Let this be a turning point for the whole region. I will continue to work towards this end with all sides. (2/2)

The ceasefire between Israel and Iran is an important step towards restoring stability in the region. Now the focus needs to be on effective diplomacy. A lasting peace in the Middle East requires a lasting solution in Gaza. We call on Israel to fully lift its blockade on Gaza.

The EU member states' ambassadors in Israel had a constructive exchange with Opposition Leader @YairLapid on urgent regional matters. We reiterated our call for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages, leading to a permanent end to hostilities.

Together w/ Dep Mayor Shlomi Numa we visited the site of the deadly missile strike in Be'er Sheva, where 4 lives were cut short in an instant. My thoughts are with the victims’ families, the injured & the many families forced to leave their homes. Civilians must never be targets.

Ramat Gan's resilience is amazing, despite the damages. I met Haim Kapach, the city’s security director, and Maya Cohen, who was forced to leave her home. Many homes are gone – but countless lives were saved thanks to preparedness and brave first responders.

Today, we reached an agreement with Israel to expand humanitarian access to Gaza. This deal means more crossings open, aid and food trucks entering Gaza, repair of vital infrastructure and protection of aid workers. We count on Israel to implement every measure agreed.

The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible. I spoke again with gideonsaar to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that IDF must stop killing people at distribution points. All options remain on the table if Israel doesn’t deliver on its pledges

Civilians cannot be targets. Never. The images from Gaza are unbearable. The EU reiterates its call for the free, safe and swift flow of humanitarian aid. And for the full respect of international and humanitarian law. Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long.
