The Astros have added No. 11 prospect Colton Gordon to the 40-man roster and protected him from the Rule 5 Draft, per Brian McTaggart. Here's a complete list of each team's eligible ranked prospects and which ones have been protected: atmlb.com/4fNeq0D

Myths of S&C: Part 2 Misunderstanding the force-velocity relationship. Although almost all S&C coaches know Newton's second law (F=ma), our intention tends to be more Aristotelian.

After reading the full MLB Report on Pitcher Injuries, my thoughts are largely unchanged from my tweet yesterday. Thread below with more takeaways and thoughts ⬇️

Baseball The much heavier balls (PlyoCare balls) are significantly lower stress in our studies - the weighted balls close to the baseball thrown at max intent have the highest chance to modulate stressors! It’s the underload balls that are most stressful in terms of peak torque.

With my previous org we reduced pitcher TJs from 12 in my first year (coming off COVID) to 1 revision each of the next 2 years primarily by employing this. We reduced the off season shutdown, had guys throw more, and grounded our prescription in objectivity. #pitching

Here’s a look at some of the rehab throwing I’ve created for one of our Beacons Baseball pitchers. We’re tracking all velos of all throws made (plyos, weighted baseballs, and regulation baseballs) and we’re doing zero prescribed distances. Excited to share more as we progress!

The athletes that do the best in long term RTS cases are dedicated Dealing with a long term injury is serious (aka difficult), practitioners need to be make the rehab fun and enjoyable This helps athletes stay committed to the process through the inevitable ups and downs

Anyone *can* do this. It takes effort, and understanding meaningful workload benchmarks and progressions as opposed to arbitrary and meaningless distances. In human performance, things change over time, are you evolving/adapting, or staying stagnant? Awesome stuff here by Pat.

“Got the intensity I needed last year” Rehab isn’t just for fluff or to coast to make sure you feel good. You need to actually work hard and reach a certain intensity threshold in your training to create positive performance adaptations. Throwing progressions are no different

I think for the ‘just throw slower’ crowd it’s really hard to explain that very small differences in velocity can cause very large non-linear changes.
