Utterly appalling decision. These cuts threaten both the livelihoods of farmers (many of whom are already earning less than the minimum wage), and the future of our treasured environment. The Chancellor must think again.

This should be the final nail in the coffin for Thames Water. It needs to be turned into a public benefit company and Ofwat needs to be scrapped and replaced with a real regulator with teeth.

Today I pushed the Government to help move passengers from short haul international flights to rail, based on superb report from Campaign for Better Transport re use of the Channel Tunnel. This would save CO2 emissions and improve international rail connectivity. Win win.

With approx 14.5 million parking fines this year, today I have pushed the Government to go further than the long awaited code of practice for parking, and to introduce a regulator to protect motorists and ensure transparency across the system.
