🚨New paper alert 🚨 Using sulfur isotopes in ice cores we show that some of the coldest decades of the Common Era were associated with volcanoes from the extra-tropics with relatively small input of stratospheric sulfate 🌋🧵pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

New paper by Tao Li on deglacial ice melt in West Antarctica. Using uranium isotopes in deep sea corals we find a unique fingerprint of subglacial discharge from 15.4-14.0 ka - coincident with a pulse of ice rafting & rapid global sea level rise 🪸🧊🌊 rdcu.be/dqWG0 🧵

We had a fantastic day today with teachers from Highland. We tried out lots of practical activities to aid understanding of Plate Tectonics, Volcanoes and Earthquakes. Thanks to Charleston Academy Humanities Faculty at Charleston Academy, Inverness for hosting and to all the teachers for their enthusiasm!
