Gutted and reeling to learn of the passing of our great collaborator and friend, the brilliant myrmecologist Christian Peeters. Christian Peeters

Very sad day! Our friend & colleague Christian Peeters Christian Peeters passed away I will miss his passionate, enthusiastic, extremely honest, sometimes thickheaded, but always charming way of being! The last picture he sent me. Happy pulling ants from a trunk to send me.

Bittersweet to share our new paper in Frontiers of Zoology on how the loss of flight allowed for changes to the internal design of the ant thorax. The study was led by Christian Peeters (Christian Peeters), who passed away last month. frontiersinzoology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

The first checklist of ants in the Hengduan Mountains recording 130 spp. with 41 potentially new spp.! Supported by E. O. Wilson Biodiversity Postdoctoral Fellowship Museum of Comparative Zoology. New species descriptions are coming soon! Thank Arilab for all the help! zookeys.pensoft.net/article/55767/

I’m stoked to advertise my first first-author PhD paper in 🧵 about the estimation of muscle architecture from CT data comparing various methods. Pavel Puchenkov, Heiko Stark, Evan Economo and I present workflows that worked for ant and bird muscle. doi.org/10.1093/iob/ob…

Got CT data? Want to estimate and visualize muscle architecture (volume, fiber number, pennation angles, etc.) for comparative morphology / biomechanics? See the comparisons and workflows by Julian Katzke out in Integrative Organismal Biology. Works for verts and inverts.
