In Copenhagen, a city of one million people, further north than most British cities (and therefore colder weather) more than 50% of journeys are by bike - it is consistently rated one of world’s healthiest and happiest cities

Having a lot of hospital beds is not a sign of a healthy society - US has more beds per capita and worse health - Sweden has fewer and better. Difference is effective prevention - tackle poverty, inequality, tobacco, alcohol, junk food, pollution, inactivity

I installed a 'cosy' woodburner before I learnt how toxic they were to my family and community's health. Chimney safely blocked back up now

That's my son! No not David Lynch the Ritzy Picturehouse worker putting up the sign - Noah is himself a great filmmaker and Lynch fan so very appropriate

Free but tormented until the last by masked faces of hate and a chorus of ā€˜Death to all Jews.’ If your reaction to this is; ā€˜well, what about…’ then you are not a lover of peace, you do not care about a Palestinian state. You just hate Jews.šŸŽ—ļø

Telling that graphic shows centre surrounded by car parks. Yes, some people will need to drive but let's make walking, cycling, public transport the easiest/most pleasant option for health infrastructure as evidence shows it is best for human and environmental health

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Bigger airports, less environmental planning protection, extending gas heating won't deliver growth only political headaches and an unsustainable planet

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Environmentally ruinous airport expansion just equals political headache. Invest heavily in health, education, child poverty reduction for a healthier, better educated, more productive workforce paying more tax, generating growth, using less acute, expensive services later

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

My family of 4 have reduced, reused (composter) and recycled (normal recycling plus soft plastics to Co-op, medicine blister packs to Superdrug, tinfoil to council waste centre) so much that we could drop to a twice yearly black bin collection. Ban polystyrene and once would do

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Route to fastest, most effective growth: invest heavily in health, education, poverty reduction and environmentally sustainable infrastructure. Trying to build more ruinous airports will just cause political and environmental problems with little positive to show for it

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Growth of climate change, growth of air pollution, growth of political problems for the the government. Instead invest heavily in people's health, education and sustainable infrastructure

Local public health services have been cut by 28% since 2015 - over £1bn a year with the heaviest cuts falling in areas of worse deprivation and health. £200m is better than nothing but will barely cover inflation and works out at little more than £1m per council

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I’ve had great, rapid care for my minor physical ailments whilst my son waits over a year even for a diagnosis for his neurodivergence and mental health issues despite likelihood delays could lead to a lifetime of expensive poorer outcomes

Ed Davie MPH (@eddavie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I guess any money is welcomed but I was on the board of a housing association overseeing the refurbishment and expansion of a single housing estate that costs £1bn. £350m works out at about £2m per upper tier council area or 10 homes each if you're lucky

My thought for the day. Single Market. Customs Union. More money for defence. Strengthen Europe. Place us firmly back at the heart of our continent economically, militarily and geopolitically.
